Adithya Varma – Review

The most anticipated movie Adithya Varma is a remake of the Telugu super hit movie Arjun Reddy. The film leads Dhruv Vikram and Banita Sandhu in main role, while Priya Anand in a supporting role. It is directed by Girisaaya, who is co-director of the original version, and is produced by Mukesh Mehta under the banner E4 Entertainments. For both the hero and director it is the debut movie.

The movie was first directed by Bala in the name Varma, but due to creative difference, E4 Entertainments re-launch the movie with new cast and crew, expect Dhruv Vikram and music director.

Adithya Varma is a medical college student, who is very poor in anger management. He is falling in love with a junior student. Their love, breakup and their life after that, is all about the movie. Though the story plot sounds like a usual one, the screenplay and the way it has been narrated is what makes this movie an enjoyable one.

Being a debut movie for Dhruv Vikram, he has done an excellent job. Here and there some shades of Vijay Deverakonda and Vikram is seen in his acting. It ensures that Dhruv Vikram will go places in cinema industry. Banita Sandhu as a female lead has done justification to the role. But she couldn’t match the performance of Shalini Pandey in the original version. Priya Anand’s cameo appearance doesn’t give much impact to the movie, and she might have given a better performance. Rest of the cast also has given their best.

The music director Radhan has done a good work. The movie has the same tracks of the original and it has added up value to the movie. The background score is too good that it supports in elevating the emotion of the scenes.

Comparing the first half of the movie the second half moves in a very slow phase with next to next predictable scenes. Seems the editor could have worked more on the second half. In Ravi K. Chandran’s cinematography each and every frame looks fresh.

The movie has many scenes portraying the hero as an alcoholic, which is quit irritating, also the movie has many scenes of the intimacy between the lovers and this also seems a little over dose. And the movie is not apt for the family audience.

On the whole the team has tried to make a decent remake of Arjun Reddy and has succeeded in it. But anyways it couldn’t match the original version. For audience who haven’t watched the original version the movie would be a delightful entertainer.
