Thodari – Review
Thodari Movie Review
Thodari is the first ever Tamil movie that completely travels in a train, by Prabhu Solomon. The director is known for his reality based movies, a movie based on train from him and his first combo with Dhanush, brought the expectations on this film to the hike.
Dhanush works as a pantry car employee in the train travelling from Delhi to Chennai. Keerthy Suresh as a famous heroin’s touchup girl, travels in the same train. The Dhanush meets her and eventually falls in love. And the first half completely moves with Dhanush romancing Keerthy Suresh. Due to some unexpected incidents the train becomes unstoppable and runs at a speed of 140km. Thus the life of about 700 passengers in the train is at risk. What happens then, is said in the second half of the movie.
Dhanush perfectly fits the role of a pantry car worker and has done full justice to his role. Keerthy Suresh as an innocent girl has proven her acting skills, but in places she reminds Laila and Genelia. Radharavi as the minister gives an immense performance. Thambi Ramaiah and Karunakaran’s comedy brings laughter at times. But in certain situations their comedy becomes a hurdle to the thrilling flow of the movie. Ganesh Venkatraman and Harish Uthaman have done well but their characters require much detailing. R V Udhaykumar and Boss Venkat as loco pilots have done their part well.
Three songs in D Imman’s music are good, but they are unenjoyable due to its misplacement in movie. His background score works well but songs lapse the usual Prabu Solomon and D Imman magic. Vetrivel Mahendran’s cinematography is good but the low grade CG work degrades it. The director’s idea and effort of making a movie completely in a train is really appreciable. He has tried to bring in all incidents that happen in a train journey, which makes the movie clumsy. There are many logical loopholes in the movie and many questions a left out without answers. The director has got a very exciting story plot, but has failed to well execute it.
