Muthina Kathirikka is a full fledged comedy film directed by Venkat Ragavan and produced by Avni Cinemax of Sundar C and Kushboo. The actor-director Sundar C and Poonam Bajwa are doing the lead roles. The cast also includes Sathish, Kiran Rathod, VTV Ganesh, Singampuli, Ravi Mariya, Yogi Babu, Sumithra and Jayaprakash. And Vaibhav has given a guest appearance. Cinematography is done by Bhanu Murugan, editing by N.B.Srikanth and Siddharth Vipin has composed music for the film.
This movie is the remake of the Malayalam hit movie ‘Vellimoonga’ starring Biju Menon, Anju Vargesh and Nikki Galrani. Muthina Kathirikai is the story about a forty year old man Muthupandi who is unmarried and struggles to become a politician. Muthupandi takes up his family burden of settling down the life of his brother and sister, remains unmarried till his 40th age. He joins a small political party in his village whereas VTV Ganesh and his brother Singampuli of his opponent party are the hurdles for his political development. And Muthupandi falls in love with Poonam Bajwa but later finds she is the daughter of his ex-girlfriend and schoolmate Ravi Mariya. How Muthupandi manages to marry Poonam Bajwa and succeeds in his political carrier is the rest story.
Sundar C perfectly fits the role of a village politician and has given a best performance. Poonam Bajwa is only used to add beauty to the screen. Sathish as Sundar C’s friend has done good comedy but some scenes involving VTV Ganesh and Singampuli brings the roof down. Sadly, Kiran the former glamor girl has done mother role of heroine. Also Ravi Mariya, Yogi Babu, Sumithra and Jayaprakash have done their part well.
Director Venkat Ragavan , the debutante’s dialogues sounds good, but must have worked more on screenplay. Cinematography of Bhanu Murugan and editing of N.B.Srikanth has worked well. Siddarth Vipin has given a good background score, but songs in his music don’t create any impact. But the movie is worth of watch for the comedy scenes. Surely this movie will be loved by viewers who don’t mind of any logic in, but just want two hours of entertainment.
