Aandavan Kattalai Movie Review

Aandavan Kattalai is third film of the National award winning Kaaka Muttai’s director Manikandan. The movie is about a social issue which has been left unattended. Two friends Vijay Sethupathi and Yogi Babu are dreaming of going to London for earning money, so that they can solve their financial issues. With this the both come to Chennai, and what is the struggle they face to achieve their dream is the movie about.

This movie has a very rich cast, each and everyone have given their best performance. Vijay Sethupathi has nailed it, especially in scenes he acts as dumb and when he tries the role of King in the drama troop, he is just amazing. Rithika Singh has done a totally different role from Iruthi Suttru, the realism in her acting is impressive. Yogi Babu’s one liners has worked good comedy, he has also succeeded in emoting the serious scenes also. Sivagnanam Aravindhan as a Sri Lankan has done an amazing job. Nassar and Pooja Devariya bends into their roles. Vinodhini Vaidyanathan has given a notable performance as a Junior Lawyer.

The movie is technically very strong Arul Chezhiyan, Anucharan and Manikandan have worked on the screenplay. They have done a clean job that, not even a single scene lies out of the story plot. Shanmuga Sundaran with his camera has visualized Chennai very lively. Anucharan’s editing is good, it would have been better if he had work more on some scenes in the second half. K’s background music is excellent and his songs are good but fails to haunt in our minds.

Taking a social issue in hand, Manikandan has delivered this movie neatly without any compromises. Without any hard hitting dialogues or scenes the message he conveys reaches straight our heart, their stands the brilliance of the director. In the beginning of the second half the movie seems to be slow but after Yogi Babu’s arrival the movie picks up speed. It is a clean movie without any smoking or drinking scenes even the movie doesn’t have any action sequence. On the whole, Aandavan Kattalai is a very good entertainer which has rewritten the usual norm of an entertainer movie. It is a must watch entertainment package, which will not disappoint you.
